Nikolaus Harnoncourt Receives RPS Gold Medal

Nikolaus Harnoncourt has become the latest recipient of the prestigious RPS Gold Medal. The presentation took place on-stage at the Barbican on Sunday 22 April, after the maestro had conducted a performance of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam.

Harnoncourt’s performances and recordings of Beethoven’s work have achieved a legendary status. Sunday’s concert and presentation, which was met with a standing ovation, reminded us why.
